Bromford and Lichfield District Council have worked together to improve Friday Acre gardens in North Lichfield.
What was once a difficult to maintain, messy area where wheelie bins were left on pavements forcing people to walk on the road, is now organised and tidy with a communal recess area for bins giving residents easy access whilst keeping the pavements clear for pedestrians. Rear gardens have been cleared, enclosed and re-fenced, giving Bromford customers valuable outside space.
Helen Minchin, neighbourhood manager for Bromford, said: “Historically, these gardens have never been well maintained but now residents can enjoy their own gardens with new fences. We have a number of keen gardeners in the street who already have established gardens and now all residents will have the same opportunity to create and transform their own open space.”
Councillor, Michael Fryers said: “This has made such a difference and really lifted the area. The provision of bin stores has been a godsend too as previously there were none.”
